“Lipstick, Literature, and Liberation.”
Bold, isn’t it? That’s exactly what I thought when I stumbled upon it while scrolling through Pinterest, searching for the perfect tagline to describe my blog.
I wish I could say I came up with it myself—but alas, creativity didn’t strike as fiercely as I’d hoped. Still, the moment I saw those words strung together, something clicked.
When I finally sat down to write my very first post, I stared at the blank screen, paralyzed by possibilities. What should I say? Should I start with a friendly “hi”? Or maybe dive right in with book recommendations or a passionate breakdown of recent releases?
And then I saw it again—“Lipstick, Literature, and Liberation.” Of course! What better way to begin than by sharing why this phrase felt like the perfect reflection of what this blog stands for?
So, here we go…
Imagine a rainy day, a warm cup of coffee, a stack of well-loved books — and a voice reminding you that beauty and bravery often go hand in hand. This is that voice, and this is that place.
Lipstick, literature, and liberation—or, as I like to call it, L³—three words that may seem unrelated at first glance, but together, they perfectly capture the spirit of my blog, Harshee’s Lit Lounge. This tagline isn’t just a catchy phrase; it’s a personal manifesto. It reflects who I am and what I want this space to be: bold, thoughtful, and free.
Lipstick, to me, represents confidence and the freedom to express myself on my own terms. Whether it’s a quiet nude shade or a loud red, it’s a small act of reclaiming space in a world that often tells women to shrink. It’s not just about beauty—it’s about choice.
Literature is where I feel most at home. I created this blog to dive into stories that move us—whether they’re classics that have stood the test of time or modern works that speak to our present. Through books, I want to explore not only art but also the politics, emotions, and social realities they reflect upon.
And then there’s liberation—the one that completes this trio. Harshee’s Lit Lounge is a space for free thought and honest conversation. I hope to discuss feminist themes, discuss and challenge outdated norms, and reflect on the world around us. Whether it’s dissecting a novel, reacting to current events, debating new music/movie releases, or highlighting marginalized voices, this blog is my way of contributing to a more thoughtful and inclusive dialogue.
Lipstick, literature, and liberation—this is more than a tagline. It’s my way of telling the world: I’m here, I’m thinking, and I’m speaking up.
